Whitney Houston

whitneyWHITNEY HOUSTON = Million Dollar Bill

A comeback of epic proportions is our focus this week ,. Our legendary featured vocalist grew up around musically talented people. Her mom, Cissy Houston, was a renowned gospel singer, and her cousin, Dionne Warwick, was also a talented and internationally recognized American singer. The iconic Aretha Franklin is our featured artist's godmother, and with a childhood surrounded by so much talent, it's no surprise that Whitney Houston grew up to become one of the biggest international recording artists in history. Despite her rocky marriage to Bobby Brown, and a few spats with the law, Houston is still loved and respected by her peers and fans alike. This undying love for her is what's propelling the release of her comeback album, and no one could be more excited than Whitney about the project because the album chronicles her life over the past several years with deep passion and a profound spiritual influence.

As a child Whitney Houston belted her powerful voice for her family's church, and at 15 she started performing in her mother's nightclub act. Around the same time she signed with a modeling agency and began to pose for major publications like Glamour and Vogue. After high school Whitney sang back-up vocals for Lou Rawls and Chaka Khan until Arista president Clive Davis discovered the teenage vocal talent. Davis didn't waste any time and signed the young Whitney to her first record deal and began work on her debut album. Arista's investment paid off in ways that Davis couldn't have expected. Whitney Houston's self-titled debut album shot to No. 1 and contained the huge crossover hits "You Give Good Love", "Saving All My Love For You", "How Will I Know", "Greatest Love Of All" and all of them dominated both the R&B and Pop charts. Houston became a star of the highest order, one whose appeal crossed races, cultures and generations. After her debut album, Whitney continued to churn out the hits, as well as dabble in a few major motion picture projects that did very well for her.

Rumor of Houston's return to music was confirmed when Clive Davis announced that he would personally be involved with the project during an interview on the Oprah Winfery Show.
