BEYONCE = Ego
There are only a handful of artists that have had the success that our featured Urban Express Spotlight has had. Her latest album has reached 22 top ten charts worldwide, and Beyonce is only the second female R&B artist to have her first three albums debut in the Top 3 this decade, the other was Alicia Keys. Beyonce's album, "I Am… Sasha Fierce", has been certified Platinum and it's her third consecutive multi-platinum No. 1 album. She's definitely a fierce talent to reckon with, and her incredible global fan-base is drooling over her new single.
For this album, Beyonce really took the extra time and effort to make sure that her vision was manifested into the extravagant production that it has become. "Ego" was planned as the third single from the album, but later was changed in favor of "Diva". "Ego" will be released along with "Sweet Dreams", which is from the same "I Am… Sasha Fierce" disc, but is available on the Standard Edition, unlike "Ego", which is only on the Deluxe Edition of the album. This horn-driven soul stomper is Beyonce's fifth single off of the album, and her ability to creatively bring erotic lyrics into a song without sounding raunchy seems to work well for her. The whole alter-ego thing really allows her to show a completely different side of Beyonce. Sasha is definitely fierce, bold and vainglorious, while our esteemed Beyonce is humble, graceful and proper.
