MARTIN SOLVEIG FEAT. DRAGONETTE
When it comes to electronic house music, few DJs measure up to the popularity and talent of our featured Dance Express Spotlight. Born Martin Picandet, our featured DJ/producer was born in Paris, France in 1976 and he was surrounded by the sounds of classical music until his 13th birthday. That's when his parents bought the budding teenager his first set of turntables as a present, and this new instrument inspired Picandet to venture into the sounds of musique électronique. Armed with an arsenal of classical influences, Martin brought a fresh ear to electronica and eventually his keen sense of what sounds chic shot Monsieur Picandet to the top of the international electronica music scene.
Martin's steady climb to the top began with endless nights on his beloved turntables perfecting his craft at many of Paris' premier clubs like Le Palace, Les Bains-Douches, L'Enfer and Le Queen. That's when Martin Picandet became Martin Sloveig, and that's also when he started assembling disco classics by putting together small, simple pieces of electronic music. Martin Sloveig's first samples were born on the dancefloors of those famous Parisian clubs. In 2002 Martin Sloveig released his debut album, "Sur La Terre", which contained the hits "Heart of Africa" and "Edony". Martin's second album, "Suite", was also a success for the young DJ, and the track "Maden" was remixed as the French World Cup song, "Zidane II Va Marquer". Martin Sloveig followed that up with his third album, "Hedonist" (2005) and "C'est La Vie" last year. You may remember his ubiquitous title-track banger and the massive "One 2.3 Four", both of which are on their way to becoming legitimate dance anthems for 2009.
After so much success, what's next for Martin Sloveig? With a unique sense of collaboration and fashion, the next step was logical: team up with the sensual sassiness of the Canadian electro-pop group Dragonette, and the ultimate designer of Parisian chic, Jean Paul Gaultier, to produce one of the most watched videos this year! Our featured single, "Boys & Girls", will delight your senses with its constant, rhythmic thumping that penetrates your flesh, and the vibrant and sassy images that flash your screen and dazzle your eyes when you see the video. After all, what's a hot track without a sizzling video to complement it?
